What is commercial asset finance?

A business loan gives your business capital that isn't tied to one specific asset.
Instead of financing a single piece of equipment, you get funds you can use where they're needed most, covering wages and stock, taking on a bigger contract, fitting out a new site, or smoothing out cash flow between invoices. Most of the loans we arrange fall into one of two types, unsecured or cash-flow.

What we finance

If your business needs it to operate, we can likely finance it. Across WA industries we know well: civil construction, transport, earthmoving, mining services, trades, and small business owners.

We regularly arrange funding for:

Trucks, trailers and prime movers
Excavators, loaders and earthmoving equipment
Utes, vans and company vehicles
Plant, machinery and workshop equipment
Tools of trade and fit-out equipment

Loan structures we arrange

There's no single way to finance an asset, and the right structure depends on your business and how you manage tax and cash flow. We'll talk you through which structure suits your situation. For the tax treatment of each, your accountant is the right person to confirm what works best for your business.

Chattel mortgage

You own the asset from day one, and the lender holds security over it until the loan is repaid. A common choice for businesses registered for GST.

Commercial hire purchase

The lender buys the asset and you hire it from them, taking full ownership once the final payment is made.

Finance lease

The lender owns the asset and leases it to you, with options at the end of the term. Useful when you'd rather not own the asset outright.

Low-doc finance

For eligible businesses, finance with minimal documentation, sometimes just identification and the asset details.

We know the assets, not just the finance.

There's a real difference between financing a five-year-old excavator and a brand-new prime mover, and lenders treat them differently. We know which lenders back which assets, how they assess age and condition, and what gets an application across the line.

We can also help you find the asset itself, drawing on relationships with dealers and suppliers across WA.

What you'll need to get started

It depends on the lender and the size of the deal, but generally:
Your driver's licence
Details of the asset you're buying
Your business ABN
Bank statements
BAS or financials, if required
The supplier invoice or quote for the asset
Many commercial deals fall under low-doc and need far less than this, sometimes just ID. We'll tell you exactly what's needed for your situation, so you're not chasing paperwork you don't need.

FAQS

Asset finance questions we hear most.

Still working something out? These are the questions that come up most. If yours isn't here, get in touch and we'll help answer it.

Can a new business get approved for asset finance?

Yes. We work with both established and brand-new businesses. Because the loan is secured against the asset, some lenders are comfortable approving newer businesses, particularly under low-doc options. We'll point you toward the lenders most likely to say yes.

Do I need financials?

Not always. Many asset finance deals are low-doc and need only minimal documentation. Larger or more complex applications may require bank statements, BAS or financials, and we'll tell you upfront what applies to you.

How much deposit do I need?

It varies by lender, asset and your business profile. Some deals can be arranged with no deposit at all. Rather than guess, we'll give you a clear picture once we understand your situation.

Can I finance a used or second-hand asset?

Yes. Used assets are common in asset finance, though lenders assess the age and condition of the asset, which can affect the terms. We'll match you with a lender comfortable with what you're buying.

How quickly can funds be released?

For straightforward applications, finance can settle within 24 to 48 hours. More complex deals take a little longer, and we'll give you a clear timeframe upfront.

Will applying affect my credit score?

Asking us for a quote won't. We assess your options with a soft credit check that leaves no mark on your file. A hard enquiry only happens once you choose a lender and proceed with a formal application.

Ready to finance your next asset?

Tell us what you're looking to finance and we'll compare lenders to find the right structure and rate. It takes a few minutes, with no impact on your credit score.
